Camera and Internal Storage
The Iconica One 7 is a budget tablet aimed at being more functional than being a fancy one. So it gets a 5MP camera at the rear without a LED flash which is decent enough for a device at the price point it will be present at. The secondary camera unit will be a VGA unit that will just get things done without focusing much on the quality. There will be two variants of the Iconica One 7. One will come with an internal storage capacity of 8GB and the other one will have an internal storage capacity of 16GB. There will be a microSD card slot as well which will allow for expansion of memory by another 32GB.
Processor and Battery
A 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor coupled with PowerVR SGX544 GPU is what you get under the hood of the tablet. The processor is a pretty capable performer and performs well enough for a budget processor. It is surely better than the Mediatek counterparts and will take care of all your processing needs. Joining hands with them will be a 1GB RAM. A 3,700 mAh battery will be present to give it the life for running for about 4-5 hours of moderate to heavy usage. Considering the fact that it doesn’t have to power some really high power specs, the battery should perform good enough for an average user.
Display and Features
The Iconica One 7 has a 7 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The resolution fits the device just right and anything more than this would have driven the price up. Anything less would have resulted in a poorer experience so Huawei seems to have struck just the right chord in this regard. The Iconica One 7 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean but Acer has stated that it is upgradable to 4.4 KitKat which is the latest iteration of the operating system and we consider that point to be quite worthy as you usually don’t get the latest version of the operating system in the budget segment.
Comparison
The Iconica One 7 will be up against the likes of Dell Venue 7, Swipe MTV Slash 4X and Xolo Tab 7 when it gets launched in India. It might have an issue dealing with the bulk of budget tablets on sale in India but Acer’s brand image coupled with service network will surely help it in making ends meet better than the rest.
Key Specs
Conclusion
If it actually gets priced below Rs 8,000 in the country, we’ll surely have a winner on our hands. The tablet has everything that you can expect out of a budget tablet and the Acer moniker works in its favour. It is a tablet with Intel Inside so processing is taken care of pretty well too. So we don’t really have much to complain about this device.
