Physical Overview

The smartphone is wrapped with a full metal frame with a soft leather back. This gives extremely nice grip and feel in the hand. The Tango sensors positioned next to the camera gives a feature loaded look. Though the design is not oriented towards plushness but, it is a good combination of looks and advanced technology.

Above the display, along with Asus branding, you find the earpiece, 8MP camera, and ambient lighting sensor.

Below the display, you get a home button in the middle with fingerprint sensor embodied in it. A back button and multi-tasking button that are beneath the display only. On the left side you get dual SIM card tray.

The right side comes with a volume rocker and the power button.

The edges are covered with brushed metal finish and the top has a smooth plain surface.

At the bottom, a USB-Type C port, 3.5mm audio jack and speakers are placed.

The back houses the three cameras, dual LED flash and other sensors.

Display

Asus has gone bold with all the segment of this smartphone and you get a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. You get a bright and sharp display with Zenfore AR, thanks to its 1440 X 2560 pixels screen resolution and a pixel density measuring ~ 515 ppi. Asus has incorporated a large screen to cover the maximum area on the front which gives a nice look but, is not so user-friendly if you are the one who tends to use your phone with a single hand.

Hardware

The smartphone is built to perform and features a Snapdragon 821 SoC which is coupled to a massive 8GB RAM. The internal storage has three options – 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. A powerful processor and a big RAM is not the only highlighting segments of the phone and it also supports Google Tango and Daydream platforms. At the back of the phone, sensors are placed near the big camera that will help in giving a better VR experience. Fueling the phone is present a 3300 mAh battery.

Camera Overview

Asus Zenfone AR comes with three rear camera, which includes a motion tracking, a depth sensing and a 23MP primary camera with Sony IMX318 sensor. The rear camera is further backed with Dual-LED real tone flash, f/2.0 aperture, OIS (4-axis), EIS. ½.6” sensor size, phase detection, and autofocus. At the front, you get an 8MP camera with dual-LED tone flash and 85-degree wide viewing angle and f/2.0 aperture.

Price And Availability

Asus has not revealed the exact launch date of its Zenfone AR but, we expect that the smartphone will land in the Indian market by this month. The expected price of the smartphone should start from Rs 45,000 for the base variant. Let’s see how the Asus makes the pricing of this highly advanced, feature loaded phone.
