With Microsoft showing its disinterest in smartphones and smartphone OS after years of struggle to increase market share inch by inch, It is understandable how tough it is for anything except Android or iOS to survive.
Jolla, however, believes in its product and continues its struggle with Sailfish OS 2.0, which will debut in a smartphone from Domestic manufacturer Intex. The first Sailfish OS 2.0 smartphone from Intex will arrive in India in November later this year. The first Intex Smartphone with Jolla OS will be called Intex Aqua Fish and will be running Snapdragon 410 64 bit quad core. It will include 4.7 Inch HD display, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB expandable storage, 2300 mAh battery and 4G LTE support. This will not be the only Sailfish OS smartphone that Intex launches. The company will launch smartphones across different price ranges poowered by Snapdragon 200, Snapdragon 600 and Snapdragon 800 SoCs.
The Jolla Sailfish OS is a different OS which relies on gestures to keep everything just one swipe away. Introduction of Sailfish OS at different price ranges in India will give Jolla the required exposure to make a strong case for themselves.
“Together with the Sailfish India ecosystem partners we believe that we can provide an exciting new choice for smartphone lovers in India and later globally as well,” said Sanjay Kalirona, Head Mobile Business, Intex Technologies. “While we want to provide more platform options to consumers, we are not sure about launching a Windows Phone currently given the market conditions,” He further added.
