Display

A 6 inch panel is found on the device, much larger than what the average phone of today does. However, the large display is primarily meant for productivity purposes, which is hinted by the low-ish qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. Thanks to this, the pixel density will be on the lower side. People looking for a large-screen browsing experience, mild gaming and multimedia experience would be prime candidates for this kind of a device.

Camera and Storage

The device comes with a camera combo of an 8MP rear and a 2MP front. This clearly suggests that the device will be a sub-10k priced one, although there’s no official word yet. Back to the cameras, you can expect the device to be the average performer – if you’ve previously used a budget smartphone with an 8MP camera, you’ll know what to expect from this one too. Storage is the standard and disappointing (we won’t stop complaining) 4GB on-board, along with the SD expansion slot. However, 4GB on this device isn’t as bad as having 4GB on a 5” 720p phone since this one will perhaps find more use in productivity apps.

Processor and Battery

Like mentioned previously, the phone packs a MediaTek MT6582. The processor is from the newest breed of powerful quad-core processors from MediaTek, and is regarded as an upgrade over the older MT6589. The processor is quite a powerful one and can handle most stuff thrown at it. The only problem one can find is low RAM availability on this phone. The device comes with an impressive battery of 2400mAh, which you can expect will take you through one day of browsing mail, chat, web surfing and the regular few calls.

The device looks like an extrapolated version of the Micromax Canvas HD. Not bad in any way, each one to his own.

Conclusion

We really like the prospect of a mildly powerful large screen device. The key now for Intex is to price the device in a way that it is accessible by the masses. The device opens up a completely new niche of budget devices, as far as we’re concerned. The only little gripe could be the low RAM – 1GB would’ve been perfect. However, we will wait for the price to be announced before jumping the gun on this one.
