About Jolla Sailfish 3 OS

For the uninitiated, Jolla demonstrated the Sailfish OS 2.0 at the MWC Shanghai in partnership with Intex. Now, the Finnish company is extending the ecosystem with Jolla Sailfish 3 OS. The operating system comes with support for 4G VoLTE connectivity and the company will extend its support to certain devices. The company is planning to offer an alternative in form of the OS for low-end phones and feature phones. The OS is also capable of running certain Android apps and comes with an App store of its own. Sami Pienimaki, CEO , Jolla said, “What sets Sailfish OS apart from its competitors in the feature phone segment is the capability to do low-spec hardware configurations and still run selected Android apps thanks to our unique solution.” While the Jolla Sailfish 3 OS is coming as an alternative OS, the company is willing to offer local R&D and flexible features for the overall package. The OS is currently rolling out its support to new devices like the Sony Xperia XA2, Gemini PDA, and corporate tablets like the INOI T8 and the INOI T10, which are tablets with 8-inch and 10-inch screen. Jolla also mentioned about the extended security features within OS that is expected to make it a ‘Solid alternative’ to the existing feature phone operating systems.
