Micromax Bharat Go with Android Oreo (Go Edition)
There have been rumours around the Indian smartphone manufacturer planning to launch an Android Go device. Confirming these, Micromax has announced the launch of Micromax Bharat Go by the end of this month. For the uninitiated, Google had introduced the Android Go programme back in May last year. It was then announced that the version will be available by early 2018. It is a watered-down version of Android 8.0 Oreo and is meant for low-end or entry-level smartphones. Android Go has its own suite of optimized apps for the same. To start with, it comes with Google Go, YouTube Go, Files Go, Assistant Go, Google Maps Go, and Gmail Go. All these are lightweight applications that can operate on low RAM, starting from as low as 512MB. The new Micromax Bharat Go should have these apps pre-installed. While this is the software part, chipset makers like Qualcomm and MediaTek are also reportedly working on optimizing their processors for Android Go. Also, there are rumours that this offering from Micromax will be priced at under Rs. 2,000. There are no other leaks and speculations about the device. Micromax has issued a statement about the Micromax Bharat Go, saying, “Taking its mission of connecting the unconnected ahead, and providing the best in class mobility devices, Micromax will introduce BHARAT GO to deliver optimized Android experience as an entry-level smartphone to millions of Indian consumers.”
