Key Specs

Display and Processor

Oppo R5 lies in a different zone. It has a 5.2 Inch display, larger and sharper (1080p Full HD vs 720p HD) than Sliver 5, and that is only reasonable considering the extra bucks you pay for the R5.  If it makes you feel more secure, yes, both displays have Gorilla Glass 3 layered on top. The processor for Oppo R5 is Snapdragon 615 with 8 cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. The chipset is known to have heating issues, and Oppo R5 heats up a bit, in spite of an elaborate heat dissipation mechanism inside. It is still too soon to know if Canvas Sliver 5 humbled with a low end Snapdragon 410 is plagued by the same issue too. Both smartphones have 2 GB RAM on board.

Camera and Internal Storage

Micromax Canvas Sliver has an 8 MP rear camera which seemed decent in our initial testing, while OPPO has a bigger 13 MP rear camera sensor, at the cost of a camera bump, which should be more acceptable and less conspicuous once you put on a case. Both phones have 5 MP front snappers for selfies. Internal storage is 16 GB on both smartphone and none offers the comfort of MicroSD card slot. If 16 GB is manageable for you, this shouldn’t be a problem.

Battery and Other Features

Battery capacity is 2000 mAh on both smartphones, but Oppo R5 includes VOOC Rapid charging which is the next best thing you can ask for, first being a beefier battery. Both phones support 4G LTE connectivity, which is finally holding ground in India.  Sliver 5 is running latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, while Oppo R5 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Conclusion

Oppo R5 has a faster chipset and a larger camera sensor, but it is also significantly more expensive. If you are looking for a compact, slim and light design as number one priority, and are a basic user Canvas Sliver will be a better option. Oppo R5 is more powerful, but still seems a bit overpriced.
