Micromax has today presented another phone in its Unite series, to collide head on with Moto E. Perhaps this is why the first phone was named Unite 2 and not Unite 1. The New Micromax Unite A092 is also expected to be priced less than or at par with Moto E and Unite 2. Let’s take a look at the specifications.

Camera and Internal Storage

Micromax Unite 2 had a surprisingly good 5 MP sensor in its price range and Micromax is expected to use the same 5 MP imaging hardware in Unite A092 as well. A front VGA camera is also present for basic video calling and selfies. The imaging hardware meets our expectations. Internal Storage is 8 GB. Micromax has indeed excelled in this department. Most Android players are still stuck on trite 4 GB + 32 GB MicroSD model. But we are happy to see Micromax provide with more of faster nand flash storage on Unite A092.

Processor and Battery

The processor employed is 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 200 MSM8212 Quad core unit formed on 45nm process technology. Micromax used the same chipset in Canvas Elanza 2 sometime back. The process is backed by 1 GB RAM, which is again pretty decent in this price range. Battery takes a hit with only 1500 mAh rated capacity. Also since the chipset is formed on 45nm process technology (which is less efficient than 28nm, we are not very optimistic about how long it will hold. Micromax claims 5.5 hours of talk time.

Display and Features

The display is 4 inches in size and features WVGA 800 x 480 pixel resolution. The resolution isn’t much to boast about, but will be decent enough on a 4 inch display. Rivals like Moto E will offer bigger and sharper displays in the same price bracket After a slew of KitKat devices, Micromax has chosen to hold back to Android 4.3 Jellybean on this one. With phones like Moto E promising update beyond Android 4.4.2 KitKat, Unite A092 is not as impressive in this segment, but considering the customization options Android ecosystem provides, Android 4.3 won’t be a deal breaker.

Comparison

Micromax Unite A092 will primarily compete against phones like Micromax Unite 2, Moto E, Xolo Q700S, Xolo Q600s and Lava Iris X1. Most of the competitors come with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Conclusion

Unite A092 has its hits and misses as discussed above but overall the phone will up the ante and be a valuable offering from Micromax in budget Android segment. In last few weeks the standard for budget Android has improved many folds and Unite A092 is living up to the Unite Moniker. The phone is expected to be available later this month for a price below 7,000 INR in Pristine White, Classy Black, Mystic Grey, Vibrant Yellow and Fiery Red colors
