The Moto Z2 Force offers a shatterproof display that won’t easily crack or damage if it is dropped. It will be available in two storage variants – 4GB RAM/64GB inbuilt storage and 6GB RAM/128GB inbuilt storage, depending on the market. Along with the phone, the company also revealed pricing and availability for the recently launched Moto 360 Camera Moto Mod. To recall, the mod was unveiled earlier this month. It has been priced at $299.
Moto Z2 Force Specifications
The Moto Z2 Force sports a 5.5-inch QHD ShatterShield POLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It is built from 7000 series aluminum, making it 80% stronger than the Moto Z Force. The phone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, which will be upgraded to Android O when the latest OS is released.
The smartphone is powered by the mighty Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, clocked at 2.35 GHz, and an Adreno 540 GPU. It is coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The smartphone’s inbuilt storage which is 64GB/128GB is further expandable via microSD card up to 2TB. The Moto Z2 Force sports dual 12-megapixel rear camera setup. One camera at the rear captures in color and the other in monochrome. Both the sensors are branded as Sony IMX386 with 1.25-micron pixels, and a f/2.0 aperture.
The dual camera setup also features PDAF, laser autofocus, and a CCT dual-LED flash. It also has some features like Bokeh effect, selective black and white, background replacement, and real-time and post shot depth. For the front camera, the Moto Z2 Force gets a 5MP sensor with a f/2.2 aperture. The front camera also features 85-degree wide angle lens and LED flash. Furthermore, the camera can also be enhanced with the new Moto Mods. The Moto 360 Camera Moto Mod can capture 4K 360-degree video with 3D audio. Also, users can capture 150-degree wide-angle still images with the help of mods. Connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2 (v5.0 to be updated with Android O), NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C. The phone also features a fingerprint scanner on the Home button, with the same one-button navigation feature as in the Moto G5 series. The phone has other sensors like accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity. The phone packs a 2730mAh battery and it comes with a 15W TurboPower charger to charge it. Motorola has also included Google’s Daydream VR platform compatibility for the Moto Z2 Force.
Pricing and Availability
The Moto Z2 Force price starts at $799 (which roughly translates to Rs. 51,500). The company is also offering the phone with a monthly financial plan starting from $33 (roughly Rs. 2,000). The phone is available in Fine Gold, Lunar Grey (for T-Mobile only), and Super Black color variants. The smartphone will go on sale across various carriers in the US from August 10, and the pre-orders now open on Moto website. The company is also offering free Moto Instashare Projector Moto Mod by mail. The offer is valid only on the purchase of a new Moto Z2 Force Edition from the select partners and a limited time offer.
It is the first phone from Motorola to be available through all major carriers in the US. Earlier, it was rumored to be AT&T exclusive. The smartphone will also go on sale in Mexico, Brazil, Europe, Middle East, and Africa later this year, the company says. The launch date of Moto Z2 Force Edition for the India has not yet been announced.
