Body Dimensions and Weight

Nokia X weighs 128 grams and the 10.4 mm slab feels pretty sturdy in Hand. The Moto G on the other hand is 11.4 mm Thick and weigh 143 grams. It is slightly heavier and thicker owing to the large display size and offers good grip. Nokia X is available in several color options, where as Moto G will offer you option for customizable back cover which are not very expensive.

Display and Processor

The display of Moto G is bigger and better. The 4.5 inch bright IPS LCD display with 720p HD display is one of the best assets of Moto G. The Nokia X on the other hand comes with a smaller 4 inch IPS LCD display with WVGA resolution, which is better than what you would expect from the raw specs. The color reproduction and Viewing angles are quite good on Nokia X too. The processor used in Moto G is 1.2 GHz Snapdrgon 400 quad core processor with 1 GB RAM and Adreno 3.5 GPU. Nokia X on the other hand comes with 1 GHz Snapdragon S4 dual core processor, which is not that impressive. In our time with Nokia X we didn’t see any UI Lag, but we expect some in the long run.

Camera and Internal storage

Imaging hardware is not a forte of either of the two. The Moto G has a decent 5 MP shooter at the back, which shows improved quality after the 4.4.2 KitKat update. The Camera is among the best 5 MP shooters you can expect in budget price range. The Nokia X has a 3 MP basic camera unit, which is meant only for basic photography. The Nokia X also lacks a front camera for video calls and selfies. The internal storage on Nokia X is 4 GB and can be expanded to 32 GB using MicroSD support. Moto G on the other hand will offer you only 8 GB and 16 GB storage options, which makes it a deal breaker for heavy users.

Battery and Operating System

Moto G is equipped with a 2070 mAh which provides with an impressive battery backup. Nokia devices are well known for their battery endurance and we expect the Nokia X with 1500 mAh battery and 10.5 Hours of 3G talk time to be no exception. The Moto G comes with the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system (After update) which is mostly stock version and provides best of Android eco system. The Nokia X on the other hand is heavily customized forked Android based on Android 4.1 jelly bean. It replaces Google services with Microsoft services. It’s a matter of personal taste, but we like the feel of Moto G more. Nokia X on the other hand is simple and well organized.

Key Specs

Conclusion

The Moto G is undoubtedly a better phone, but Nokia X is significantly cheaper with a price difference of 4K to 5K INR. Moto G has been dominating the range between 10K and 15K and we expect the Nokia X to be a star in sub 10K INR range. The Moto G is powerful enough to beat the spec sheet ofeven domestic branded devices, where as the Nokia X hardware still leaves much more to be desired.
