One of the different attempts made by Samsung was the launch of Galaxy Camera and this idea later progressed with the launch of Galaxy S4 Zoom last year. To keep up its success among the photography lovers, the firm announced the Galaxy K Zoom that is believed to go on sale across the global markets in the coming months. Being the sequel to Galaxy S4 Zoom, what are major changes that Samsung has incorporated in the current generation handset? That’s what we are going to discuss here with this comparison.
Display and Processor
As they are camera centric phones, they do not come with exceptional displays that boast increased screen resolution and pixel density. The Galaxy K Zoom features a 4.8 inch HD display packing 1280×720 pixel resolution that totals to 306 ppi pixel density. The Galaxy S4 Zoom on the other hand flaunts a 4.3 inch capacitive touch screen panel that has a qHD 960×540 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 256 pixels per inch. Otherwise, both the displays are Super AMOLED panels that pave way for thin screens and consume less power and reflect less light making them completely usable when outdoors. Also, they are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to prevent everyday wear and tear. In terms of raw hardware, both the phones deliver decent performance levels, but the Galaxy K Zoom is much better as it is fitted with the new Exynos 5260 hexa core chipset that combines 1.7 GHz dual-core Cortex A15 1.3 GHz quad-core Cotex A7 processors together. In comparison, the yesteryear model features a 1.5 GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor to handle all the functionalities. Handling the multi-tasking department is a 2 GB RAM in the K Zoom, while that in the S4 Zoom is a 1.5 GB RAM.
Camera and Internal Storage
The Galaxy K Zoom definitely stands ahead of the competition with a 20.7 MP primary camera at its back while that on the S4 Zoom is a 16 MP sensor. Both these sensors are teamed up with auto focus, LED and Xenon flash, OIS, 10x optical zoom and FHD 1080p video recording. Also on board is a 2 MP front-facer on the Galaxy K Zoom and a 1.9 MP sensor on the previous generation model. Both the handsets pack only 8 GB of internal storage space, but this can be expanded externally up to 64 GB with the help of expansion card slots. Though the default storage is low to store all the applications and default software, the additional storage fixes this issue.
Battery and Features
When it comes to battery capacity, there is no much difference between the two camera centric phones. The Galaxy K Zoom draws its energy from a 2,430 mAh battery, whereas a 2,330 mAh battery delivers backup to the Galaxy S4 Zoom. For connectivity, both the phones use 3G, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and USB OTG. Also, the Galaxy S4 Zoom has not received any firmware update and is stuck on to the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, but the Galaxy K Zoom is fueled on Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform.

Both the handsets are excellent camera centric phones that come with advanced imaging features. However, the Galaxy K Zoom being the current generation model comes packed with enhanced aspects such as a better processor, bigger RAM and slightly upgraded battery. Obviously, the Galaxy K Zoom has an edge over its predecessor with its big features other than the camera.
