‘Active’ variants are a rugged and more durable form of the usual phones from Samsung. The Galaxy S8 Active seems to be featuring a 5.8 inch flat Super AMOLED display. The entire body is made out of polycarbonate, whereas the edges are metal, Android Police have reported.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Active Specifications
The major changes in the S8 Active seem to be on the display, body, and battery ends. Coming to the body, the device is reported to feature a polycarbonate body with metal sides. It is reportedly 1.5 times thicker than the Galaxy S8. Also, the programmable ‘Active Button’ is now replaced by Bixby button.
In terms of display, the device is seen featuring a 5.8 inch Flat Super AMOLED display. This is probably due to durability reasons. The display is rumoured to have 1440x2960p resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Talking about the camera, we may see the same unit as the Samsung Galaxy S8. It can be a 12MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and an 8MP front unit with f/1.7 aperture as well. Reports say that the S8 Active may not have an underwater camera like the previous Active devices. We expect the tech specs to remain the same as the Samsung Galaxy S8. This means we may get a Snapdragon 835 Octa-Core processor, coupled with the same Adreno 540 GPU. In the memory department, we are likely to get 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, and 256GB expandable memory via SD card. On the performance front, again expecting the same as S8, we may see the S8 Active running Android 7.0 Nougat. The device may come with Grace UI and the Always-On display. This major difference is reported on the battery front. Active devices from Samsung usually come with a bigger battery than the standard ones. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is reported to feature a 4,000 mAh battery. Also, the phone may come with a USB Type-C port, Iris and Fingerprint scanners, Samsung DeX, NFC port and a 3.5mm earphone jack.
