Design, Build and Display
The design of the handset is similar to that of the Xperia Z3, but instead of metal this one comes with a quality plastic on its exterior. Like the other recent Sony smartphones, the Xperia M4 Aqua is based on the OmniBalance design that makes it a great pleasure to hold the smartphone. There is glass used at the front and back of the smartphone as well. Also, as the name suggests, the handset is durable with an innovative design and comes with the IP65 waterproof rating that will protect it against water and fine dust particles as it is both water and dust resistant. This moderate RAM capacity is capable of rendering a decent multitasking performance and responsive performance that is good for a mid range smartphone in this segment.
Camera and Internal Storage
There is a 13 MP primary camera on the Sony smartphone that is mediocre. There is good performance when it comes to color reproduction. The main camera can capture full HD 1080p and HD 720p videos. The 5 MP front camera is good when it comes to clarity, details and color reproduction even in low light conditions. It can capture HD 720p videos as well and click gorgeous selfies. Also, there is a dedicated camera shutter button as well.
The default storage space in the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is 8 GB, but the issue with the device is that only a very low space of 1.22 GB is user accessible. The Android Lollipop operating system takes up a large part of the storage of 4.03 GB. However, there is an option to expand the storage by another 32 GB using a micro SD card slot. But this is not a deal breaker as the handset does not support transferring the apps or installing them directly on the micro SD card.
User Interface and Battery
The user interface in the Sony smartphone is a good one that is quite fluid and smooth. The Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system onboard the device is decent enough for a mid range smartphone.
There is a 2,400 mAh battery in the Sony smartphone that can pump in up to 2 days of battery backup when the Battery Stamina power saving mode is enabled. This is possible as the feature will limit capabilities of the device only to core functionalities such as calls and messages to prolong the battery life.
