Following this, Xiaomi India has started teasing the launch via their Mi India Facebook page. The teaser reads, “A big thank you to all Mi Fans who showed your support and joined Mi at the start of our incredible journey. We have something special for YOU, do come back on 11 July 2014 for the announcement post.” Clearly, this hints that Xiaomi is planning to launch its first smartphones in India on July 11. In addition, the Xiaomi India official website was also launched last month and it is running a contest for the consumers asking, “Which Mi phone do you think we’ll be launching first?” An earlier report citing Xiaomi’s Global Vice President and former Google Vice President, Hugo Barra in March revealed that the company intends to enter the Indian smartphone market through the online channels. It was claimed that the firm is planning to sell its offerings via its own e-commerce site at competitive pricing. While there is no word on which smartphone(s) will be launched in the coming week, it Xiaomi is speculated to launch Redmi and Mi3 smartphones in India in the sub Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 price brackets respectively.
