When Google announced the Android 4.4 KitKat iteration of its mobile operating system, the search engine giant promised that the version will support even the entry-level and mid-range phone. As assured several budget phones have been launched with the KitKat platform out-of-the-box. Also, several phones have started receiving the KitKat update upgrading them with new set of features.
Today, Xolo has unleashed the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for its Q1000 Opus smartphone that was announced late last year. The handset receives a direct update to v4.4.2 from Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. The highlight of the Q1000 Opus is that it is the first smartphone from Xolo to come equipped with a Broadcom chipset in it and to receive the Android KitKat update as well. Interestingly, the handset has been receiving minor updates ever since its launch. The first one rolled out in January received fixes for the camera bugs and the recent one announced in April handled the camera and touch screen optimizations. Also, Xolo has confirmed that it will soon roll out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update soon. As assured, the Xolo Q1000 Opus has received the Android 4.4 KitKat update that brings on board redesigned status and navigation bars, new phone dialer with the ability to glance at the contacts from the dial pad, color emoji and other improvements. However, this update measuring 294 MB is not an OTA update and users will have to download it manually from the official Xolo website. The Xolo support page has listed out the instructions that can assist users to download and install this update on their smartphones.
